Faves are Astarion, Gale and Karlach, but willing to give anyone a go! Gender and DnD races don't
matter to
him. PSA: If you see me only tagging Astarions, that's because I also play an Astarion and
like to hit up canonmates with him over Any, but I am open to any of them with Any, too!
Background
Some time before the events of the game, a strange Drow with red tattoos that uncannily match his red eyes woke up in a deep forest with a massive head wound and no clue who he was. He was found by children of varying ages who help heal him with potions they had, and there he learns they live in a mysterious city hidden in a grotto. One night, the adults in a panic hid the children away, and when they came out days later the whole city was empty. The children, the youngest an infant, the oldest around 15 years old, don't know what specifically happened, but they had been trying their best on their own for the past few weeks despite how scared they were.
When they would ask him his name, he would answer that "any name would do", so they began to call him "Any Name". "Any" for short.
Any decides to repay them by being their guardian. He lives outside its borders, setting up traps, going on rounds, and thwarting any suspicious one that may come near.
Though he doesn't live in the city with the kids, they do come visit him at his broken down cottage he found, and like to play around him, or have him try to teach them something if he can, like hunting or defending themselves. He's not trying to be a father figure to them, however, nor trying to create any sort of familial bond. He cares about them, but his self-imposed role is a guardian, not father.
He's taken by the mindflayers one night as he was trying to fight them and lead them away from the city, and is ultimately caught. He believes he was successful in keeping them safe from the Illithids since he didn't see any familiar children on the ship or as bodies after the crash, but he still worries. He wants to get the tadpole out to return to protecting them.
As for who he was before this? Well, he was once a terrible man called The Dark Urge. A spawn of Bhaal, the death god of murder. He was the leader of Bhaal's cult, the one that was to lead the world into utter destruction with the death of every single living person on the planet, leaving only himself to take care of himself in the end.
His birth is unknown, all he knows is he was found as an abandoned baby by a Drow man in the Underdark. He was given a name that he had long forgotten even before his amnesia. He was raised in a typical Drow society, but his father had gathered enough nerve to escape with his adolescent son to Baldur's Gate to start a new, supposedly better life. Things were going well enough, until one day when he was a teenager he was visited by a horrible fiend who called himself his butler and a switch in him was flipped. He brutally murdered his father and followed the fiend into the vile arms of the Bhaalists where he is welcomed like a prince, newly christened The Dark Urge.
The following decades he grew in power and depravity, obeying his father's whims, sowing his seeds, and building a following. The Dark Urge is different from Bhaal's other spawn, however: he's more cunning. He devises plans beyond random acts of violence and terror. Eventually, he and two other Chosen of the death gods come together and create a complex plan to first conquer Baldur's Gate, a major hub in their world, then the world by utilizing the hivemind of Illithids to create a new cult of a false god called the Absolute. Part of the plan is to implant people with magically altered tadpoles, parasites that are inserted into brains that eventually turns humanoids into the squid-faced mindflayers. At some point as the plan unfolded, The Dark Urge is betrayed by his jealous sister, Orin, who stabbed hime in the brain and shoved a tadpole in there, and eventually he is dumped out into Faerun, where he wakes up in a forest surrounded by children with no memory of his past...
Personality
Any is a chaotic and violent sort of man who has his own set of morals that many would frown at, but considering the world he is from, could be worse. He enjoys a good fight, truly feeling alive when he injures or is injured, etc. However, he doesn't relish in a fight with those weaker than him (unless they are coming at him in a gang, like goblins do), and typically won't instigate fights just for fighting's sake. (Now, going out into danger to be attacked so he has a reason to fight is another thing!)
He also tends to be a protector, especially for children or anyone vulnerable like that. He will ignore many crimes he may witness, but someone trying to hurt or kill someone weaker than them will ignite his fury. Even before his head trauma and amnesia, when he was fully The Dark Urge, he didn't like when his father's followers would target the weak like that, though maybe no for as alturistic reasons as he does now. It's a show of weakness and patheticism on the part of the person.
He is also prone to bouts of vilence if he's frustrated which can go against his usual credo, like if he wants to take something from a store but there's just too many people he will still attack them--but he'll just try to KO them rather than outright kill them. He will sometimes feel bad about that.
He doesn't revel in the vile passions that his original Dark Urge self did, except he does love blood and viscera. He will get aroused by it even. But he's been learning to keep that excitement to himself (or between him and a willing partner).
Any can be a very sexual man. Part of the Urges that dwell within him is to procreate, to spread his father's blood, and he loves a good fuck where he can get it. Post-fight he's especially keen.
He's not the most intelligent of men, but he's also not as stupid as he seems when you first meet him. His manner of speech is stilted and blunt, often with trailing pauses. He's very straight-forward, and while he doesn't not lie, he typically says what he means, especially his threats. He's also not that especially chatty on his own, and if he is interested in maybe speaking to a stranger or someone he rarely has he will most likely sit and stare at them until they either approach him or, more likely, escape from his gaze. If he's approached, he will have a conversation, but the amount he talks and how animated he is during it grows exponentially with how much he knows that person.
He can have difficulty understanding ambiguity in language: sarcasm, metaphors, subtlety, et cetera. The more he comes to know a person and their speech habits and personality the better he can come to understand those things, but right off the bat he tends to take what most people say at face value until he knows better. He doesn't really mind that much if he's teased about this shortcoming, but if people get angry or frustrated at him for it then he's prepared to punch them right in the mouth to see how much they like talking shit after that.
Any stares. There doesn't seem to be much reason for this except he's the creepy child of Bhaal, as this is something he has done since birth, so he can't even blame it on head trauma. If he's interested in something or someone he will stare intensely at them/it. He will also just stare because his mind is wandering. It's difficulty to tell just why he's staring, which can be rather disconcerting considering he's a large Drow prone to violence, but for the most part it's harmless.
Despite how all of the above may make him sound like, he is actually a rather nice guy. He does like talking to people, he likes hearing their stories, enjoys music, friendly sparring, hunting, so on and so forth. He doesn't even need to be the one engaging with another person, as he enjoys sitting in the middle of a busy tavern and overhearing other people's conversations. When he was guarding the children, he was happy to have them be around him, doing their own things, just basking in their energies.
While he was guarding the town of children, he also hadn't realized how lonely he was. He misses his self-improsed role as a guardian, but he has been enjoying his time with his traveling companions they try to rid themselves of the tadpoles. The longer he travels, the sadder he becomes thinking about parting with his new friens--especially if he happens to start a romance with one of them....
RP/PSL Ideas
-
Romance/Smut: I love romance, I love smut, let's just do it all day every day. Smut is not required to play romances with me, either!
Smut doesn't always have to have a plot or feelings behind it, sometimes you just want to do stupid filth, and I'm here for you.
Romance likewise doesn't need to lead to plot or growth of feelings, sometimes you just want to write them being gross and sappy while laying under the stars, I'm here for you for that, too.
-
Filling in the gaps: RPing the areas where the game glosses over story or character reactions. eg: Would Any just stand there and placidly watch Astarion cry after stabbing Cazador? What more would they have most likely talked about before going to bone zone on his grave? Any and Shadowheart have a heart to heart about if she should become a dark justiciar during the gauntlet. Etc.
-
Rewriting but Following the Beats: Don't like how the romance route between your character and Tav goes? I love playing out a unique romance route that still can follow the story beat. This can also apply to other aspects of the game: like the idea of the shadow-lands but not how it fully went? Let's make up our own shit! Etc.
-
Post-Game: Any and your character are bonded friends or a couple after the game? What do they do? What life do they pursue together? More adventure? New quests (like finding a fix for Karlach in Avernus, or finding a way for Astarion to be in the sun)? Domestic grossness?
With Any's background, going back with him to his kids is also on the table. Become another violent guardian of the city, or maybe actually be curious about the city and find its secrets. Find out Any's backstory. So much to do!

Come at me: Have an idea I don't have listed? I'd be game for a lot of things!
